For the sake of scalability, for ease of management and to simplify
backup and recovery processes, it makes sense to separate different site
collections into their own content databases. However, by default
SharePoint 2010 saves content from every site collection into the same
database. In this Video shows how to move content out of the default
database and into custom databases, so our farm configuration is
scalable and more manageable from a data perspective.
